Support Safe Place Parking

Safe Place Parking provides a safe, staffed overnight parking space for people in Brown County who are sleeping in their vehicles. Operated by Wise Women Gathering Place, the program is open 365 nights a year, in every season, offering safety, dignity, and connection to support for individuals and families experiencing housing instability.

On average, Safe Place Parking hosts 24 vehicles each night, with capacity at 46 vehicles nightly. As local shelters reduce capacity or close seasonally, more neighbors turn to Safe Place Parking for a secure place to rest. In a community where housing is increasingly unaffordable and unavailable, the program fills a critical gap in care.

Community-Powered Six Years Strong

For six years, Safe Place Parking has been sustained by community generosity—through in-kind support, matching gifts, and donations from people who believe everyone deserves a safe place to sleep.

It costs $12,500 each month to keep the lot open year-round—about $17 per person, per night. As we enter year seven, every gift helps ensure that no neighbor in Brown County has to sleep somewhere unsafe.

Your donation helps provide:

  • A safe, staffed place to sleep—every night, 365 days a year
  • Basic amenities, including restrooms, Wi-Fi, blankets, and snacks
  • Battery banks for CPAP machines and electric blankets
  • Gas cards, vehicle charging, and battery support
  • Resource connections, referrals, and advocacy

A donation in any amount makes a difference. Your support helps sustain Safe Place Parking and the care, stability, and safety it offers to our community every night of the year.
