The Safe Place Parking Program provides safe parking for people sleeping in their vehicle. We host 24 cars each night on average and up to 46 cars nightly—365 days a year through every season. When local shelters closed in the spring, the need for Safe Place Parking spaces increased as more people sought a safe place to sleep. Safe Place Parking fills a vital gap in services in our community where housing availability and affordability are obstacles.
In 2025, our community helped to sustain Safe Place Parking through in-kind support, match gifts, and donations. It costs $12,500 a month to keep the lot open 365 nights a year — roughly $17 per person, per night. As we enter year seven, every contribution ensures that no neighbor in Brown County has to sleep somewhere unsafe.
Donations provide necessary funding to sustain Safe Place Parking. A donation in any amount makes a difference!
