Wise Women Gathering Place Names New Director

Wise Women Gathering Place is excited to announce Beverly Scow is the Executive Director.

Beverly brings more than 24 years' experience with Wise Women Gathering Place’s programs and services as the Assistant Director. She was, in fact, a founding member of the grassroots circle of women gathered around Alice Skenandore’s kitchen table. Beverly was also integral in the birth of the Wise Women Gathering Place agency, developing and securing the funds for its well-known adult and youth programming.

Beloved Founder/Executive Director Retires

Wise Women Gathering Place announces the retirement of Alice Skenandore, it’s beloved founder and executive director of nearly 24 years. Her retirement began September 1, 2022.

Alice, a Tribal member from the Lac Courte Oreilles band of Ojibwe, has made a difference for so many individuals seeking assistance, information, and in the early years, a midwife. She learned to be a midwife while... 


Thank you Allstate

The Allstate Foundation granted $30,000 to Wise Women Gathering Place as part of the Domestic Violence Response Fund (DVRF). The new fund – established by a half-million-dollar donation from The Allstate Foundation – was created in partnership with Futures Without Violence and directly supports domestic violence survivors impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with resources, shelter, and nearby crisis centers.
